What They Said: Ardmore has secured an £80m ($115.3m) contract from Notting Hill Housing and Sellar Developments for phase one of Project Light at Canada Water in Southwark, UK.

The new mixed-use development will be spread out on a seven-acre site, featuring a new town centre with 1,030 new homes. This includes 453 private sale homes, 346 private rent homes, 162 affordable rent homes, and 69 homes for shared ownership.

In addition, the property will feature 50,000 sq ft of retail and commercial space, including a cinema, bars, restaurants, office space and a 100,000 sq ft Decathlon store.

The development will include a community sports facility and health centre, new public areas, landscaped gardens, walkways and cycle paths, and a new waterside town square.

The first phase of the development will rise up to 18 floors, accommodating 234 apartments for private rent and the Decathlon store with basement car park. The store will be located on the lower levels with an outdoor mixed-use games space on the podium level.

The private rent homes will be available through Notting Hill Housing’s private rented sector unit Folio London.

The store occupies the lower levels of the building with an outdoor multi-use-games-area situated on the podium level. The frame utilises a post-tensioned structural solution to provide the expansive spans required by the ground floor Decathlon store, with four residential cores at higher level surrounding a landscaped courtyard.
